Care
The Director of Personal Care, a registered nurse, has the responsibility of reviewing the medical status and personal service requests of residents prior to their arrival at Inspirit, to assist them in planning a care program that adapts to meet their individual needs.
Once a resident has come to live at Inspirit, the Director of Personal Care acts as liaison and advocate for them with community services; assists with medication administration when required; carries out treatments prescribed by physicians; counsels and consults with residents, families and medical personnel; and, offers help with discharge planning and referrals when needed. A Registered Nurse is available each day to assist with medical needs.
Personal Services
Included in Inspirit's monthly Accommodation and Service Fee is up to 1½ hours of care per day, per apartment. The services that may be provided to each resident are flexible, depending on individual requirements. Assistance with activities of daily living is co-ordinated by the Director of Personal Care. Some residents may require assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and/or mobility to and from the dining room and Inspirit activities.
In addition to nursing care and assistance with the activities of daily living other services are offered as well. Many residents opt for having their apartments cleaned on a weekly basis. Other services provided include having beds made, laundry washed, dried and folded, pictures or drapes hung, furniture re-arranged, garbage removed, batteries changed, mail picked-up, or perhaps to have someone shop for groceries once a week. Personal Service Workers (PSWs) are on duty 14 hours a day to assist residents with the activities of daily living, and to complete household tasks.
It may be decided that a person who is interested in coming to Inspirit requires more care than is offered in Inspirit's monthly Accommodation and Service Fee. If this is the case, the potential resident may purchase additional personal care services over and above the 1½ hours of service per day.
